Ways Kids Can Feel Positive During a Crisis

One of the best ways to maintain a healthy state of mind during a crisis like Covid-19 is to feel like you are doing something about it. Being proactive and positive during scary times encourages both others and ourselves. One fun and easy way for children to do that is to encourage others. Here are some ideas for kids of all ages to do just that.

  • Donate to your local food bank for people who can’t afford to shop right now.
  • Have a window visit with a senior.
  • Make a sign or picture and hang it in the window.
  • Paint a rock and leave it where people walk.
  • Use chalk to leave a message in your driveway and on sidewalks.
  • Turn on your Christmas lights.

Inspiring Quotes for Anxious Kids

I have always loved inspirational quotes. The best ones are the kind that get stuck in your memory, like little pearls of wisdom, at our disposal when we need them.

Here are a few that are perfect for kids…

  • Why fit in when you were born to stand out?
  • Mistakes are proof that you are trying.
  • Every moment is a fresh start.
  • Dreams don’t work unless you do.
  • It is not impossible… It is I’m possible.
  • To get the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain.
  • Shoot for the moon… even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.
  • Feelings are temporary.
  • Never compare yourself to others. Only compare yourself to the person you were yesterday.
  • Life has no remote… get up and change it yourself.
